JFx Joystick

Overview

The JFx series joysticks are robust high precision joysticks. Typical applications for the JFx range from computer labs, to video arcades, to industrial equipment, and military computer-based training systems. The rugged design means that they will provide reliable service for extended periods, backed by a two-year warranty.

The JFx series joysticks are available in three-axis (roll, pitch, and twist – model JF3) and two-axis (roll and pitch – model JF2) versions. All joysticks have a single-position trigger, but various configurations of switches are available to be mounted in the head of the joystick, and custom configurations can be accommodated.

Technical Specifications

Mechanical

The motion mechanism is based on two gimbals machined from solid aluminum alloy blocks. The gimbals rotate about hardened stainless steel shafts and shielded ball bearings. All internal parts are anodized aluminum, stainless steel or delrin.

Electrical

In every axis the position of the stick is picked up by a magnetic Hall Effect sensor, which provides output voltage through a signal conditioning amplifier. The sensing system is contactless (see photograph), which improves performance over extended periods. The centering repeatability error is less than 0.5%.

Input:  5 vDC
Output:  0.0 to 5.0 vDC
Center:  2.5 vDC

Mounting & Connectors

The joystick is mounted with 4 bolts in a 3.8″ cutout. Under panel depth requirement is 3.5″, including the connector.

Depending on the choice of output, the connector can be:

a DB-15 or a high density DB-26 for analog output
mini-B USB connector for USB
RJ-45 for TCP
DB-15 for CANBus
